Achilles Tendonitis, Injury

Achilles tendonitis is a prevalent issue among runners, from elite athletes to casual joggers, often caused by strain and inadequate warm-ups.

Achilles tendonitis occurs when the Achilles tendon, which functions like a bungee cord, becomes strained due to its limited elasticity and poor blood supply, leading to slow healing. Overuse or tightness increases the risk of injury, as the tendon lacks flexibility under stress. Proper warm-ups and stretching before and after runs are essential to maintain tendon health and prevent damage. Symptoms like pain or nodules in the tendon indicate injury, requiring rest and recovery. In severe cases, surgical interventions may be needed to address nodules or reduce tendon tension.
